The Joker's Greatest Crime!

Arguably, the Joker is one of the greatest villains in all of comicdom. Why? Because he actually causes lasting physical and emotional damage to the hero. The Clown Prince of Crime has single-handedly killed both Robin (the Jason Todd version), crippled Batgirl, and been a thorn in Batman's side for a handful of decades. But, what was his worst crime, you ask? Perhaps poisoning the cosmetics in Tim Burton's film version? Ruining Harvey Dent's life and destabilizing Gotham in The Dark Knight? Maybe the time he overthrew Arkham Asylum, nah...it's all child's play compared to the shocking events in this panel from a Batman coloring book:

Highschool of the Dead Season 2 Rumors

For those not in the know, High School of the Dead began as a Japanese manga back in 2006, but has since built-up quite a cult following and even a 12 episode anime series produced by Madhouse, one of Japan's largest animation studios.

Don't Miss Out

Featured Product: Batman Strange Apparitions TPB SIGNED EDITION!

Want your very own signed and numbered copy of this rare, out-of-print Batman TPB?
A very limited amount is currently available at Middle Earth Collectibles.

Strange Apparitions deals with a number of elements coming to a head at one point in Batman's life. A new villain appears in Gotham City, Doctor Phosphorus, who terrorizes the town by contaminating the water supply. He also blackmails the city council (whom he had previously held ties to), demanding that they remove Batman from his path. This political pressure is fronted by Rupert Thorne, local corrupt boss. Along with the two new ones, an older, forgotten Batman foe appears, the nefarious Hugo Strange, who both discovers Bruce Wayne's identity, and usurps it. Batman also comes into conflict with Deadshot and The Joker. All of this is made much more complicated by Wayne's introduction to Silver St. Cloud, a local socialite who just might be the first person to truly penetrate his emotional barriers.

Batman: Strange Apparitions collects DETECTIVE COMICS issues 469-476 and 478, 479 from 1977-1978.

This long out-of-print trade paperback from 1999 has been signed on the cover by writer Steve Engleheart and artist Terry Austin. This signed edition also comes sealed in plastic with an official Dynamic Forces, Inc. seal to ensure that it hasn't been opened - and includes a numbered certificate of authenticity!

Limited to 500 signed copies!

Remembering King Kong on Thanksgiving: The Days of WOR-TV

For those who grew up around the New York area in the '70s and '80s, King Kong went with Thanksgiving in the same way that Santa went with Christmas.

For those that were either removed from the New York/New Jersey area, or are too young to remember, WOR-TV would play their annual King Kong marathon every Thanksgiving. A tradition which typically consisted of the 1933 original, Son of Kong, and Mighty Joe Young. Every so often things would be changed up and King Kong vs. Godzilla or King Kong Escapes would be played - but the original King Kong was always a staple in the line-up.

Unfortunately, due to major companies owning most television stations, tighter programing constraints, and simply lack of creativity, the tradition has long since disappeared. However, in an age of DVDs the tradition can continue to live on, though, sadly, without the quirky local commercials that always proved to be a welcomed intermission. Yet, all is not completely lost because, thanks to Youtube, a sample of days gone by can be relived once again...

Happy King Kong (Thanksgiving) Day!

Godzilla vs. The Thing Super 8mm Film

Let's face it. Today, we're spoiled. Any movie we want to see is readily available through some means (even if it's bootleg), there's nothing that can stop an avid movie fan from seeing the film of their choice, no matter the rarity.

However, prior to streaming, Blu-Rays, and DVDs there was laserdisc, VHS, and BETA - but prior to that - there was 8mm film (actual, physical film -- GASP!) That's right, you needed an actual projector to play these. The early 8mm reels weren't even in sound or color (though later ones would be) and let's also keep in mind that the average 8mm film would be anywhere from three to eleven minutes, depending on the reel size. Yep, you didn't even get to see the whole film.

We now present to you the only way you could have watched Godzilla vs. The Thing back in the 1960s,  aside from seeing it in the theater or owning the entire 35mm reel. Sit back, grab some popcorn (a small bag, because this is short) and enjoy nearly three whole minutes of a classic Godzilla film, in glorious non-definition.

Featured Toy of the Day: Godzilla vs. Tricephalon Playset

Back in 1978, Godzilla was a hot commodity in the United States. He was that star of his very own Hanna-Barbera cartoon and was being featured in a Marvel Comics series, not to mention an outpouring of toys, including the celebrated Shogun Warriors figure. However, it would be a shame to forget HG Toys ever-impressive "Godzilla Battles The Tricephalon Monster" playset. Toss in a collapsable city play-arena, a handful of army men, tanks, a battleship, jet fighters, a bridge, a generic three-headed monster, and Godzilla himself, and you have hours upon hours of enjoyment.

Cereal Box Memories

Ah, the joys of cereal...though today, picking out cereal is a rather bland affair, considering the lack of pop-culture icons appearing on the boxes. There once was a time, not so long ago (or maybe it was, but let's not think about that) when the greatest characters from both television and cinema graced the cardboard boxes that often housed lackluster breakfast food. But really, who cared how the cereal tasted when C3PO was on the cover.

The Cinematic Batmobile: Batman's Car Through The Years

Sure, Batman is an icon, no doubts there - but, over the years, his impressive set of wheels has certainly earned its own iconic status. While it would take the Caped Crusader's trusty Batcomputer to categorize each and every Batmobile ever depicted on the comic page, it's far easier to create a comprehensive list of the live-action versions. So, without further delay...

....atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed...

Pre-Built Model Kits Available!

For some, the art of building and painting model kits can be a rewarding experience - however, for others, the undertaking of assembling and bringing a few dozen pieces of plastic, vinyl, or resin to life is not as enticing. For the latter category, these already built and painted model kits can be a pleasant substitute.
